The European Football Championship is just around the corner and you're still looking for the perfect snack to round off your private public viewing culinary experience or impress your guests? Then we have just the thing for you! Our recipe for puff pastry with ham-cheese filling is not only easy and quick to prepare, but also a real hit at every football evening - especially with children. These crispy, golden brown bites are the perfect mix of hearty ham and melted cheese, nestled in delicate puff pastry.Ideal for sharing and enjoying during the game - this makes every European Championship evening a culinary success!

What you need:
  • 1 roll puff pastry from the refrigerated section
  • 100 g sour cream
  • 100 g cooked ham
  • 100 g sliced cheese (e.g. Gouda)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Optional: sesame, poppy seeds or similar for sprinkling

And here's how:
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees top and bottom heat.
  2. In the meantime, place one half of the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.Brush the puff pastry completely with sour cream.
  3. Then distribute the ham and cheese on it and spread the second half of the puff pastry on top.
  4. Whisk the egg yolk and brush it on the puff pastry.
  5. Cut the topped dough into squares with a pizza cutter or knife and sprinkle them with sesame, poppy seeds and/or something similar.
  6. After 20 minutes of baking time, the puff pastry snack is ready to serve.

This goes with it:

The puff pastry snack with cheese and ham can be enjoyed both warm and cold - either as a snack in between, as part of a party buffet or a quick dinner.A fresh salad with a light dressing, such as a balsamic or lemon dressing, provides a good balance to the savory and crispy puff pastry and perfectly rounds off the dish. Ingredients like cucumbers, bell peppers, or radishes add extra freshness. Also suitable and delicious: grilled vegetables. A mix of, for example, zucchini, bell peppers, eggplants, and mushrooms makes a hearty and healthy side dish. In terms of drinks, a mild, light beer or a Pilsner is particularly suitable, as it is not too strong in taste and goes well with the light spice of the ham.
