As a textile artist Lisa Sudermann explores the sensual impact of materiality, particularly in the interplay of haptics and visual perception. Her textile objects are the result of an intensive examination of the material, on the one hand as a physical substance and on the other hand as an emotional carrier.

Based on her training as a make-up artist and her many years of work in the theater, she developed a sensitive feeling for surfaces, shapes and textures as well as their direct effect on people. The technique of tufting, which she learned autodidactically, became a central means of expression. A playful, experimental approach quickly developed into more complex objects with three-dimensional depth. Textile compositions that have the appearance of abstract paintings in a soft cover.
